"All invited candidates are required to send a $75 audition deposit check by August 19th to secure their audition slot."

At $75/applicant that should fund the chair for two seasons! :tuba:

So I have no idea how these things work, but it seems odd to me that they want to look at CVs then invite people to audition. I thought it was all about what happens behind the screen, not about how an applicant looks on paper. Are they filtering people who don't have a Masters degree or sooner other triage?
As amateur as they come...I know just enough to be dangerous.

Conn 20J
MW 20
Holton Collegiate Sousas in Eb and BBb
Holton Medium Eb
40s York Bell Front Euphonium
Schiller Elite Euphonium

I'd like to think they just want to avoid recent music or HS grads who just want to do something besides cut grass for the rest of this summer. :coffee:

In most industries, having to pay an appliction fee for a job is seen as a sure sign of a scam... Is that kind of thing normal in the music biz?

Checks are returned upon arrival to the audition. A process put in place decades ago to discourage no shows. No idea if it really works or not
