Lower cost tuba shipping tip

Post by arpthark »

Just in case anybody is looking for solutions post-Greyhound Package Express:

I have recently signed up with a website called "Shippo" to send out tubas. I can buy a UPS label and coast-to-coast shipping is no more than $250 to ship, well-packed, in the hard case. I've done this now with an MTS style hard case and two foam Chinese zippered hard cases. The zippered tubas were only about $200. Beach balls in bells, liberal bubble wrap, etc.

I'm sure some folks balk at this tack, and shipping is always a gamble. If palletizing were cheaper that would be preferred.

A company that sells me new instruments is super-nice to me, and allows me to use their account.
(Of course, I reimburse them...duh.)

...but/and thanks for the tip !
