Hello,
My fiancé is thinking about selling his tuba and I’ve been trying to research resale prices. He has a B&S 3103 PT1 Tuba, it was purchased around 2012 and played in college for ~6 years. It is in good condition and some photos are attached. Please give any estimates or resources you have to help me determine its value. Thank you so much!!

Check the prices for completed sales on Reverb and eBay. For example, this one sold five years ago for $5350.

That is a very nice rotary BBb tuba; one of my favorites. The B&S PT-1 is about the same size/class as a M-W 25 and Miraphone 187 -- a tall, rotary 4/4+ BBb tuba.

I'm only seeing one photo, but looks to be in excellent/like new shape with hard case. I'd say $3000 - $4000 for a faster sell :smilie8:

Echo this sentiment. Be sure, OP, when doing research, you take note of who is selling. i.e., dealer prices will typically be higher than a private seller.

As someone who posts frequent items for sale from around the country and kind of has his finger on the pulse of tuba prices, if it were me, I would list it for sale for $4.5k or so and listen to offers. Good luck!

When doing this sort of research, be sure that- when something sold - it actually sold for the price shown on the internet. There's no real way to verify that.

Sadly, I don't believe the price of used tubas has gone up as much as the price of ground beef.

Sorry I don't have any more specific or actually useful information, but isn't that typical for this website?
