So I just bought this B&S 5v CC Tuba. It was announced to be a model 3097 but after doing a Google search it sure does'nt look like a 3097. To get rid of bad smell I've had pretty good results using granulated active charcoal.
I just put a good amount of it in a bowl, put it in the case (closed) and let it stay there for some weeks.
The active charcoal can be reused after a good wash under running water and some drying time

It actually crossed my mind but I was anxious about the good deal of thumb moving in combination with the fingering.
After giving it a second thought I think it would be no problem with a spring loaded trigger returning to "home" every time not activated
