WTB Cimbasso (moved)

Post by iattp »

So, I'm blind and didn't see the WTB section...sorry, so here's my misplaced post

Servus! Since I don't know if this should be here or in the selling board (since I searched "WTB" and didn't find anything there), I decided to try here.

I'm in a bit of a pickle, location-wise, but hey, I chose this life...I'm looking for a cimbasso (I don't care what key it's in), and I'm located in Skopje (Здраво драги МК тубисти, ако читате!). I'm willing to fly out to somewhere in Europe, since I KINDA want an excuse to get out of this summer hellhole, and I want to try it out.

I found 2 neato BBb ones earlier this year in Italy, but they were sold before I could hop on a plane. If any of y'all got leads, please let me know! I don't have a HUGE budget, and I don't need a super professional model, but I really am not looking for a busted-ass, cheapo one. I can make SOME garbage horns work (check out my Eb trumpet video below, if you're not afraid of listening to a tuba player playing the trumpet parts on an alto Eb trumpet (the way they were intended, but in F, so kinda?).

I digress....

So, short story long,

- I want a cimbasso
- I live in Skopje
- Price shouldn't be too high
- I'll share with the boys here (we don't have a cimbasso in the entire country!)

- Out in Skopje (Peace Corps Volunteer who stayed)
- Other odd instruments, but more in my brother's garage

Can't help with the cimbasso (I want one too, but one that is tbone length, ain't gonna happen) but with the garden tools in the background, I'm guessing you're playing along with some famous orchestra on the stereo, which is one of my favorite things to do.
Why do you live there? Sounds like interesting fun to me, but what does one do for a living that allows one to live there?

I came here as a Peace Corps volunteer, met a lady, got married. I teach German, so it's a needed skill in the country. That, and I'm one of 5 or so tuba players in the whole country (more like 3 of us, the others are still in college). It's a nice gig, but it does get kinda musically "lonely" out here. There are hardly any wind bands, and the ones that do perform, generally play the same marches over and over. There is absolutely NO British style brass band music out here.

Whatever, life is pretty chill, I get to play music in the garage, sometimes elsewhere, and I'm a short 3 hour drive to the beaches in Greece :D

Let's not forget that the rakija and BBQ out here are just awesome....and the tomatoes!
