This is a big, solid recording tuba from 1938. Bell: 24” Bore: .770
I just played it for the first time in a while and it plays better than I remember!
I would call it a 5/4. It has a very big Bell and Throat but 4/4 branches.
It needs some work to improve performance. I suspect some leaking in the slides where there are some old patches.
A good repairman can fix that. Valves are ok for it’s age, may just need new stems and alignment, too.
