Rusk-cut Holton 345 for sale in the Netherlands €5,000

Post by arpthark »

There is someone on Facebook in the Netherlands selling a Holton 345 CC with a nice gig bag for €5,000 (about $5,500). It's a private Facebook group, but the seller's name is Roel Quaden and the group is the "Euphonium - Tuba - Low Brass Marketplace." Here is a link that may work if you are a member of that group: Link

Take a trip to Europe, buy a return seat for the tuba and maybe you're looking at $7,000 or so for a Rusk-cut BAT.

Hey hey, don't 'steal' all the interesting tuba's from Europe :smilie2:

I saw it for sale on another site as well, but with a "price on request"

I would say these are definitely much more rare in Europe! I am sure someone on your side of the pond will grab it before anybody over here does.

I was the one who brought it on the east side of the pond some years ago. A very fine instrument.

Sounds like an adventure -- care to share the tale, or was it pretty uneventful?

I wonder if this was my Tuba at one time. Around 1993 I purchased a 1944 Holton BB from the principle tubing from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

I sent it to Rusk to be re-silvered, cut to CC, and then a 5th valve added.

Sadly, after getting my music degree, I was so burned out on playing and gigging I couldn’t stand to even play it anymore and sold it on eBay. Mid 20’s stupid decisions.

I’ve been looking for it ever sense. Loved that thing.

Of course I didn’t write down the serial.

I think Daniel Ridder owns that one now. Or, at least, he did.

I owned... but it was to much work for tuning. Sound was very good!
