Surprised this tuba is still up for sale. They have a very reasonable price for it, and it's a great CC tuba. I don't need it, but I'd be VERY tempted to snatch it up if I had the money.

I think the issue is simply that -- good deal or not -- $6,000 is still a lot of money for most folks.

And for that same $6k, you start getting into a lot more options, and you can find something you actually want, instead of jumping on the best deal.

I like the 2155. I don't remember being wowed by it, but I liked it.

Frankly, if someone were really interested in it, send them an offer for $5k and see what happens. It's a pawn shop. They might just want it gone.

Ok.....
....yet some (many) ppl will shell out more than $6k for various good-condition/used Eastman tubas, or other "higher-end" Chinese tubas... :eyes:

Maybe a PT-6 copy would be right up your alley.

Huh? I'm not sure I could be any more anti-China-tuba. I've stated (and have lived the reality) that I'd rather have no tuba than a Chinese tuba. Other people will do what they choose, and I will do what I choose.*

I'm saying, a lot of people (me included) aren't in a position to drop $6k on a tuba -- even if it's a great deal on a tuba that you like. It could be $4k and a no brainer deal of the year. Still not going to happen, because I don't have the money.

For people inclined to buy a Chinese tuba of whatever kind, maybe $6k is good enough to make them stop and think twice about the 2155, but not good enough to change their mind. Good deal or not, people will buy what they want to buy.

Some people also just don't want to spend $6k on a 30+ year old tuba from a pawn shop in Los Angeles. I can imagine it wouldn't be the easiest story to sell to your wife.

*I'm like this with other things too, when there's an option. Obviously, things like phones and computers and all that, there's few choices (or, just as bad choices). But when there are options, I avoid the Chinese made stuff.

I have a coworker who told me that when her kids were young, she'd give them each $10 when they went to the dollar store and told them they could buy whatever they wanted, as long as it wasn't made in China. (Which usually ended up being candy, but still.... A good exercise...)

So if it's a pawn shop, and suspecting what happened with my $40,000 violin -- is anyone missing a 2155?
