for Ab you're going to need a 5 valve. What about that Eb miraphone near me?

Yes, but 4+1 and a yoink of a tuning slide.
5v will give it to you without a slide pull!
Or... 3+1 comp...

I’ve got a lead on a 4v Martin Medium, but getting it to Minneapolis, hmm. Also, who knows if it will work out.
Probably one of my more helpful posts.

Re: Inexpensive 4 valve Eb tuba
depends on the tuba. Rotor horns usually don't have good false tones.

Re: Inexpensive 4 valve Eb tuba
Yeah, that's the plan for now, but a workaround instead of a permanent solution. It works sort of okay, but obviously could be better!claf wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 2:37 pm That's probably a stupid question, but can't it be played opened with false tones ?
I do it on my 3v Eb and it's very fine.
