I have no idea if this is a deal or not. I find it interesting that it is currently residing in a garage in North Central MN.

It's neat, but a bit expensive. It's been listed for 12 weeks... that's telling.

Not too far from me either. Looks like a nice horn though, will see what Tim hears about it.

The seller gave me his contact info, which I forwarded to Brett this morning. The guy is willing to drive, so maybe Brett won't even have to leave the 'safety' of the metro area!
I'd love to be interested myself, but in the past three months the scarce fun money has gone toward a tiny tuba and a PPD that goes 'bang' (and a healthy supply of bang pills), and I now have my eye on a bargain of an old mini-bike for the munchkins (and moi). Maybe next time.

Did anybody ever try this? It looks to be all original, and the seller did say OBO.

I've been in touch with him, and have considered it. He said OBO, but maybe not by much, as he's comparing it to new prices. It came from Germany, and was said to be a prototype of the model. I bet it plays pretty well, but... Cerveny tubas of any vintage rarely carry much of a premium. Spending nearly $4,000 on a used F tuba... Can I justify that for Cerveny?

I had an almost new (but sold as used) Cerveny 653. Bought it from Dillon Music for about $3k. That was like 8-10 years ago. They aren't bad tubas, but don't hold value well.

Left hand is the 5th valve.
Right thumb is the 6th valve, which is a quint valve (NOT the normal 6th valve for an F tuba). I think of it more like a 5 valve F tuba with a switch valve to another key, than a real 6th valve.

Ah. I see, now. Thanks. I should try an F tuba, sometime, but not this one.

I'm just now browsing this forum for the first time in a while.

The used market has been dismal since the beginning of the pandemic. Like everyone's been marking up their prices since they think people aren't home to compare or something?

I've bought a number of bass accessories in the last year, and figured that it's cheaper to just buy new. I got lucky with a Zoom H6 with all accessories for $275; where people locally have been trying to sell the base model for $300...and the product new is $325 with no accessories.

To top it off, people have been getting offended when you offer a reasonable price or otherwise try to negotiate at all. It's disappointing.

Reverb is especially bad. After shipping, most of the gear is actually more expensive than if you were to just buy new.

/rant. But yeah; the used market has been very interesting as of late, and I've just been looking at new gear rather than used because it's been cheaper lately.
