Here are the engravings on the bell of the very first Sousaphone, built by J. W. Pepper in 1895!

Re: Engravings -- show them here!
Here are a few misc...certainly not photographed under ideal conditions:
...At least one of these pictures is D-- (perhaps, earning a score of 59.6%...??)
I'll buff this one, sometime, and try again...
This is either a 19" or 20" (??) 4/4 bell, and the engraving extends nearly to the bell rim.
F. E. Olds valve trombone...the best of the American-made ones, imo.
Small-shank Olds/Reynolds playing slides all bolt up to the bell section.
bloke-cimbasso...engraving extends on up the bell...

Re: Engravings -- show them here!
Bloke, not sure I've ever seen that B&S super old engraving. Very cool, and as you've said before, quite ornate for the East German workshop/time period.
Re: Engravings -- show them here!
Almost the same Bloke, except for the "Made in..." and that my B&S logo is filled in.

hint: Don’t refer to things as “super old“ that someone else bought brand new.

If things keep going the way they're quickly going, I dunno if I'm particularly interested in doing so.Three Valves wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:13 am Especially if the fella that bought it new is still living and plans on keep living another 15+ years or so!!
