…I first played “Festive Overture” when Shostakovich was still alive.

. . . I can't be the reincarnation of a dead French Impressionist.

When, as a teenager, I first discovered the work of the artist Henri Matisse, I became completely enthralled with his work. So much so, that I fantasized that I was him, reborn. That fantasy was dashed when I learned that our lives overlapped by a few weeks.

What is the musical connection? His landmark book of some of the collected works of his last artistic period was called: Jazz. (mic drop)

When I played “Rocky Point Holiday” by Ron Nelson, Rocky Point was still in business.

…I attended a Willie Nelson concert even before he recorded “City of New Orleans”, and managed to pass a note up to him (written by my sister-in-law) suggesting that he cover that tune on his next album, which he did.

I'm not that old...

But I do find it interesting that when I was born, people walked on the moon for the first time just 11 years before. When I think today "what happened 11 years ago from 2022," I just kind of shrug.

How old am I??

I remember all three of the Orioles World Series wins.

The house I spent the first several years of my life in had no A/C, no cable TV and one bathroom.

I remember the assassinations of RFK and MLK.

We watched the progress of the Gemini space program on B&W TV in elementary school.

I'm so old, I worked under Howard Hanson (b. 1896), Aaron Copland (b.1900), and Leonard Bernstein (b. 1918). Lotsa miles on me. :tuba:

I was 18 years old.... just graduated from high school in 1969. Family too a vacation to see relatives in FL. Stood on the beach near Titusville, FL, and watched Neil Armstrong, et al, take off for the moon!! You can't imagine the sight and sound of that Saturn V rocket taking off..... and I was ten miles away.

I was in elementary school when Jonas Salk created the polio vaccine, and we stood in line in a gymnasium to take it on a cube of sugar!

At one point, those McDonald’s ashtrays were “golden”. Kinda like a heavy aluminum pan material that one buys from the store to cater or whatnot. People would lift them from McDs to have one in the car or at home, so corporate made them cheap and disposable. I want to say those persisted well into the 1990s in some areas.

I was born in 1936----the same year Jesse Owens performed so brilliantly at the Berlin Olympics, dashing Hitler's notions about the superiority of the Aryan races.

Not horribly unlike the current children that are the same age as he was then sadly. WW3 would just need to kick off, followed by the impending financial system crash.

‘ funny…
It has always occurred to me that - had I been born c. 1936, I would have been sent off to any of those ill-advised foreign wars (having been 18 in 1954), would have lived (as an adult) through some amazing events, and - with some luck (with all due respect and good wishes towards post-octogenarians) - might have not lived to witness this country’s whimpering finale.
