Travel Tuba

Post by BlueRidgeTeacher »

I am in search of a travel tuba in E flat, like the ones sold by Mack Brass or Jim Laabs. My budget at the moment is $600-$700. PM if you’re looking to get rid of one.

Thanks!

In the past, Besson/Boosey & Hawkes offered a remarkably small BB-flat tuba (13" bell...??) that actually played pretty darn well.
They appear on eBay fairly regularly.

They also offered (less often seen in the USA) a similar (and even smaller) E-flat.

I wonder if you might stumble across one of those E-flats...??

Someone might even have male/female bell tenons (from one of those old mini E-flat sousaphones) left over from a conversion to a helicon - whereby you could cut the bell on such an E-flat tuba and carry it in a flat rectangular case.

It might...?? end up being a better-playing instrument...

not for sale (picture on a website), but this might (??) be the model I'm remembering:
