There will be an opening for ONE tuba student at The Colburn School Conservatory of Music for the fall 2023 semester.

Opened in 2003, the Colburn Conservatory of Music has become one of the nation’s leading conservatories for highly talented college-age students pursuing the most rigorous classical instrumental music performance training.

The Conservatory provides FULL financial scholarships, including tuition, room and board for all students. The Colburn School Conservatory of Music offers five programs of study: Bachelor of Music in Performance degree, Performance Diploma, Artist’s Diploma, Professional Studies Certificate and Masters of Music in Performance. These programs offer full support (tuition, room and board) to highly talented students pursuing the highest levels of classical music performance training.

The Brass Faculty at The Colburn School:
David Rejano Cantero Principal Trombone - Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra
James Wilt, Associate Principal Trumpet - Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra
Andrew Bain, Principal Horn - Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra
Aaron Tindall, Principal Tuba - Naples Philharmonic

Besides classes and private lessons students will share responsibilities performing in the Colburn Orchestra and participating in the weekly low brass class and brass ensemble.

Applications and pre-screening recordings are due on Monday, February 6, 2023. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 on the Colburn School campus. Applicants are invited to submit approximately 8-10 minutes of repertoire of their choice, but Tindall specifies the following: recordings must have been made within the past year, and must include examples of contrabass tuba playing. Upon invitation, a more specific repertoire list will be sent to candidates chosen for the live audition.

And yes, I will still be at the Frost School of Music!
