Eastman 825V and 825VG at Buddy Roger's Music

Post by BuddyRogersMusic »

Greetings, all.

After a considerable wait, I have two of the new Eastman 825V BBb tubas in stock. One is in yellow brass (EBB-825V) the other with a gold brass bell (EBB-825VG). This is the model that Chris Olka helped develop and has hinted at a couple times on his media pages. Full disclosure, there is a slight downside as both instruments sustained very minor cosmetic damage in shipping. On the upside, two players will get a good deal on a brand new tuba that, at the moment, is only available at Buddy Roger's Music. This model will be available soon at all Eastman dealers.

The damage is limited to the second to third branch brace/tubing just above the bottom bow on both instruments. Both these instruments may be play tested at our showroom in Cincinnati. Please contact me at 513-853-9438 or chite AT buddyrogers DOT com for more information.

We now have three of these fantastic instruments, one in yellow brass and two gold brass bell models. If they haven't found a new owner in the next few weeks, I'll bring them all to the Army Workshop.

The v means 5 valve? About the size of a pt6 would you say? I’m enjoying playing b flat this symphony season and am giving some thought to selling my 836 and miraphone 190 and getting an 825. Would love to hear more feedback from people who didn’t help develop it, though I do trust Mr Olka. You can only be so unbiased when you have a dog in the fight,as he himself stated on his demo video. I guess there are just a handful of these owned by end users at present. Are the 2 b-stock ones still available? If so, can we get pics of the blemishes and pricing for those?

Yes, the V denotes the five-valve version. There is a model 825G which is a four-valve version model in all gold brass, body and all which is different than the 825V. The 825VG only has a gold brass bell and the 825V is completely yellow brass.

The B-stock examples are still available as of this post. I have taken pictures of the minor damage and will email them to anyone interested. Please send me your email address and I will forward them to you along with pricing.

There are only a couple in the wild and I believe BRM still has the only ones on a retail floor. That will change soon as the models are very slowly trickling in. The overall height is about the same as the 3098 but as most rotor BBb tubas are, the top bow is pretty close to the bell. The branches and valve circuits are wrapped so that the player can get their left hand inside to manipulate the slides. No more going over the top with this horn. And the first slide has one reversed leg to avoid getting a handful of slide grease.

I hope I've answered all your questions but if I've missed anything, please let me know.

Why don't you go ahead and post pictures of the models here? That's a lot easier for someone who might be interested than clicking all over the internet looking for them. I'd like to see you get them sold. Maybe even link that video.

Let's see if this works

Not pictured is the A-stock gold brass bell model but it looks the same minus the damage at the braces. Both the horns pictured are B-stock and are priced at $8099. All three will be at the Army Workshop.

This is Chris' video:

useful-(to-me) demo (legato/tonal music-playing) begins a bit after 15:00 :smilie8:

I'm thinking that many of us get-on/get-off (as far as peeking around the web is concerned), thus my (attempting to be helpful) "cut to the chase" info.
