King (?) Helicon, Portland area

Ca. 1913 King - with the leadpipe going the long way around the valve section - seems odd to me, for H N White.

And with a cool old mouthpiece and bit -

I used to own a 1910 King Eb helicon. Did not have that wrap.

I’m sure it is. The ad mentions lead pipe work. I’m sure it’s been altered. The one I had the lead pipe had rotten off. Mine had to be altered too.

I am assuming it is only three years apart from my original one and assuming it would be similar. The bugle looks exactly the same as mine but mine had a different main tuning slide.

Kind of looks like this was changed. Mine had the very curved short lead pipe which was corroded. Similar to what I have seen on vintage York sousaphones and helicons.

This is one of the only pictures I have of mine. This was after it was modified. Only minor differences really.

to me:

' appears to be extremely old, as those not as old were "full circle" design.
