Re: 45SLP leadpipe equivalent?
The short/fat Allied one gets smaller that the 45 pipe towards the small end, but - particularly if it's annealed prior to installation - greased drilled dent balls can be pulled (via braided steel cable) through from the large end to the small end, and can re-taper the small end - after the pipe is completely mounted on (supported by) the instrument.
I believe - very roughly - that the 45 pipes might be around .525" at the small end and around .735" at the large end.

Have you tried having someone order anything for you made by a Buffet-owned factory?

smart-@$$ remark:
This is easy to screw up, so I'll end up doing the gig anyway - in addition to repairing the 1st valve casing.

Re: 45SLP leadpipe equivalent?
I think a Miraphone petruska pipe is similar; I can measure them in a couple weeks and report back. I have access to both pipes. They’re both “smaller.”

Re: 45SLP leadpipe equivalent?
The shorter Allied leadpipe for large bore tubas is very close to the 45SLP taper and will work well. Yes, it is supposed to be .734 bore but it is thicker walled brass and fits.
