Very cool. Very unusual/rare. 1280 Symphony Model made in the early 1930s.

I've had the opportunity to play a couple of these, most notably,, one that belonged to Alan Jaffe and if they're not all screwed up by sub par repairmen they play very well.They came in .689 and .750 bores and I've seen them with a high leadpipe(for standing) as well as a lower leadpipe so you can sit and play them. Basically the .750 ones are stretched out Monster Basses(like the one I have). Cool AND collectable and I'm thinking there are people on here who would be all over this at the right price. Best, Ed

I am too lazy to suss out questions of condition and playability, and how much effort to clean it up will cost/increase its value, but they are rare enough that maybe you have something akin to high ground for negotiations?
"Don't charge until you see the whites of their eyes." comes to mind...
Addendum: I also have no idea of the OP's (Original Poster's) needs/plans. If they wish to learn tuba, i think i am of the class that a satisfying sound/result is high on desirable traits in a learner, and you can do a lot worse than these. (That said, you could probably ask for a beater King 1240 into the bargain, and not reduce the cash intake too dramatically.)
