Nope. Community Band Christmas Concert in Detroit Lakes. Snow and 20-40 mph winds today!

Played the Northfield event last Saturday. Have a concert in St. Paul tonight and the call time for that is too early to play Rochester today.
Have fun there! Let me know how crowded it is. It was a tight fit on the Northfield stage this year.

Sorry I didn’t see this. I was the lone sousaphone today. A drive for me compared to Minneapolis but was fun.

What, an hour and a halfish down 52?
(not that i drove when i lived there... or played tuba)
Meanwhile i wasn't the lone sousa. And i did get to play baritone 2 as that's what worked best for the group.
And by the end, i kinda had figured out this whole blending thing...

Yeah an hour and a half. We’re in Minnetonka. My wife and daughter enjoyed shopping at the mall during rehearsal so we may be back there next year. I may bring my tuba next year. The sousaphone is fun but nice to play a modern instrument sometimes too.

Re: Anybody doing Rochester MN TubaChristmas tomorrow?
Thanks,
I had one of this same model which was a better player than this one. Martin Wilk did a pretty amazing job getting it to play modern pitch. There are still some tricky notes to play in tune similar to many vintage Eb tubas but it is at least manageable now. I played it before he did anything to it and it was impossible for me to play in tune. He took it a long way to get it playable. He had to cut the bugle.
The valve overhaul is really nice. Martin did send out the valves and I don’t know who did them other than is was not the guy on the west coast.
Whoever did them did a nice job. Martin vented all 4 and made a new neck and also used his tuning bit design so it’s completely solid and works better than any other sousaphone I’ve played.

Yes,
Had a really good one years ago and I let it go. This one had some miles on her but it’s playing pretty good now.
