I'm sure this one is very good. the period between 1965 and 1980 was the golden era for Cerveny. I'd love to see a photo of it. I've never seen a 693 from that era, I didn't even know they made them from back then. All the ones I have seen are post 1990, which is not the golden era at all.

Those worked. So... I have to ask. Who told you this tuba was made in 1980? It's newer than 2000 based on the linkage, engraving, and spatula design

Sorry, now that I think about it I had a Conn 12j that I sold last summer. I bought the horn from my private teacher from the 1980's he had bought it new. I just started playing again last year since I graduated in 1986.I had bought the Conn on Facebook marketplace to make sure that I wanted to play again and then I bought the Cerveny last Year. I love the horn and it plays well, but I am 56 with a bad shoulder and I feel it after playing this horn for a while.
He had the horn serviced regularly at Dillon music in Woodbridge NJ.

Got a chance to play round with a 693 (not quite so well maintained as this looks to be) and it was a blast!
