There seem to be a fair number of those Moldau models, if you factor all the combinations. Gold/yellow brass, with/without kranz, medium/large leadpipe, ... looks like the deluxe is a large leadpipe plus a 2nd valve trigger?

Which seems from my very poorly informed perspective like kind of an odd place to put a trigger.

Equally poorly informed but blathering anyway -- some people like a 5th valve that is a flat half step. Seems putting a trigger on the 2nd valve could accomplish that with less metal, and that may be the thinking behind it.

I'm curious as to what demographic/who is buying these horns up. My guess is schools. Or is it amatuer/hobbyists like myself.

From what I've seen, and of course I can't find the source now, the 784 is one of the best selling BBb tubas in Europe right now. I don't think it's all students. For the size and weight it definitely punches above it's weight class. And that is VERY intriguing to an old man like me.

Also, does anybody here speak enough German to give a synopsis of the review in the 684 vs 784 video?

Czech horns have always been interesting (to me, whether or not I judged any of them to be useful to me) due to them being unique.

In the past, they were both unique and less-expensive.

Today, they are still unique.

The photo of the back reminds me a lot of a Miraphone 188, in terms of the more-noticeable taper of the top bow and bottom bow. The bell, however seems to expand more rapidly, or at least differently. Here's a rough side by side of the Lidl with a 188 photo from The Horn Guys:

I played the 784 and the 684 back to back today. I actually liked the 684 yellow brass horn with the smaller bell flare more. Both were very good, but the clearness and price of the 684 swings my bote that way

Do you know if they had M or L leadpipes? I guess that would appear somewhere towards the end of the model designation, like 684-4 L.
