If walking backstage - and you see the music director or any of the suits heading in your direction, duck in ANY door, head up or down ANY stairs, bend over and drink from the water fountain, and/or take the next elevator.
NOTHING good comes from chatting up ANY of them.

That was a very useful blog post, Tony, thanks. Clark Terry was once asked if he had any advice for someone who wanted to pursue a career as a professional musician. He thought for a second and replied, “Show up on time and don’t be a d$#k.” Your post adds a lot of good detail but I think the essence is similar.
