1939 York BBb Monster Recording Bass

Model 726 BBb Monster Recording Bass 1926-1940 26 inch bell, .750 bore, 3 upright valves 6/4, Detachable Bell

in restored condition, new lacquer, new valves, kaiser sized bit, rare

few bruises, check pics carefully

vintage homemade cases built like tanks

3500 firm, plus shipping, UPS

location: suburbs of Boston

I usually leave this up for a couple weeks then move the sale to ebay fyi. These are a little bigger than the 20J's, fatter bows/

I'll also entertain trades of vintage horns/sousas

What a beauty!

Looking at this tuba AND bit, I can’t help wonder if the intention was to use a similar single bit with the two CSO Yorks and it wasn’t followed through… Would explain the very similar leadpipe angle on them.

Absolutely stunning. If I didn't already have my Martin in the same configuration, I'd be all over this.

(I do have a 4 valve Martin mammoth sousa on the market at the moment, however, on the topic of "trades for vintage horns" though)

I had a good sit-down with this and she's a player! She had a leaky main tuning spit valve leak that I hadn't noticed and promptly fixed, and oh boy I just might keep it. :laugh: Limitless sound, and will definitely not crack if you have the gas to give it. This was the horn of a regionally notable polka band leader in the Midwest, who sadly passed away.

I have a tiny brass adapter I used with the kaiser bit which allowed me to use a normal sized mouthpiece, which sadly for me, works better than using the original kaiser shank mouthpiece. Bump!
