Traded: Satin Silver Conn 20K

Post by jtm »

Here's a 1970 satin silver Conn 20K sousaphone (26" bell, short travel pistons), with neck and two bits.

This is in overall nice shape and it works great, but I don't use it and don't feel like I'm about to, so someone else should get a chance to enjoy it. The valves are fast and well aligned. As I remarked in another thread, it's very easy to play. Other than being tarnished, the neck and bits are in good condition and fit well.

Was near Austin, TX, but now it's gone.

There are more pictures here.

A couple years ago I had the bashed in bottom bow fixed. I was really happy with how that turned out. These pictures show where big dents used to be, and they also show that I ran out of enthusiasm for polishing before I did all the valves and small tubing. The slides are great; they're just not shiny.

I have a couple of great boxes now, and UPS ground to most of the U.S. should be under $350.

Tell me next time you're in Austin and I'll bring it by for you to try out. It has a bigger, deeper sound than the 186 (besides being easier to hold standing up).

This is still available.

I'm mostly not interested in tuba trades, but a good solid F-attachment trombone or nice Symphonie F tuba might work.

Hey jtm!

I've been looking for a good 20K for a while and would love to make you an offer on this. Feel free to reach out to me at evan.j.jaffa@gmail.com, I'm very excited about this horn.

Update: someone took me up on the offer to trade a trombone for it, so now it's gone.
