In support: I sold my 836 and bought an 825vg 18 months ago. Very happy.
Pros: great sound with a bit of growl,great intonation- I no longer pull slides,with a few alternate fingerings. 95% of the spit comes out the main water key- no clink-clank in the rests(I pull 2 slides right before a session,good for an hour or 2),no fussy valves.they work every time with virtually no maintenance,great low register,plenty big,great price for quality, fits any pt6 bag. I’m playing more sousaphone,so nice to have in same key.
Cons: you have to send in a bit cleaner signal to get a clean,clear result, around f# to a natural at top,of staff- a little squirrely to lock in.
As always, your mileage may vary.

Thanks, Mike. Similar experience with mine. It’s a fun tuba to play!
I attribute some of the “clean signal” that is needed to BBb tubas in general. The “slots” are a bit wider and it is definitely different from a CC tuba in the same register. I find that warming up on the BBb makes the CC feel easy and very dialed in.
