Possibly easy cut to F If you wanted a large F tuba.

I used one of those as my 'go to' Dixieland horn for about ten years. Good horns. I finally put a fourth piston on it and sold it a short time later.

Cutting to F and still having just three valves would be a pretty worthless horn, I think.

Cutting is easy.

"Making something into something else that is useful" can be difficult, and is always tremendously time-consuming.

I didn't start out this post with the idea of offering something for sale...

...but if someone wants a ugly/beater 3-valve/front-action E-flat dixie-tuba, I have one of those 7/8th-size Reynolds E-flats hanging on a piece of wood in the barn...less money than this King, and the bell comes off.

I don't have time to deal with it, right now...so I would need to sell/ship it to someone a few weeks down the road...but I can use that wooden hook to hang up a hose or a stepladder...

Easy to cut to F? Yes, probably would be.

Cut to F and still have a main tuning slide? Well, that is a totally different question.

I was also thinking a reasonably sized Upright bell would loose you length.

yeah...probably one of those 3/4-size 14"-flare 'pipsqueak' 100-year-old E-flat tuba bells (cut off to fit the bottom bow) would drop WAY down lower.

I'm also thinking this would be a pretty sweet horn with a tall Miraphone bell on it and left in Eb
