Minnesota Tuba Workshop #2! - has changed locations!

Post by MN_TimTuba »

Calling all low brass players in MN, WI, IA, and vicinity! The 2nd Twin Cities Tuba and Euphonium Masters Workshop will be held April 15 & 16, at the Norway House in Minneapolis. This event is once again hosted and organized by Dave Werden. I was able to attend the first, am planning to make this one as well. Bring your instrument for the informal playing opportunities, or prepare a solo and show what you've got. If nothing else, we forumites should get supper together.
I hope to see you there.
Tim

Cool event!
Nice venue!

But yikes... That's a really rough location... People always getting shot, drugs, all that... :gaah:

Brett,
Don't try to sabotage the event just so you get easier parking!
Besides, spring in MN ain't summer in Memphis.

Nice, I attended part of the first one at Bethel. At the Norway House because there is not enough room at Germanic-American Institute? Looking forward to it.

Only a mile away from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Scooterville and the Electric Fetus. Where are we going to eat? I suggest Merlin's Rest (British Style Pub on Lake St).

GAI is pretty small... Basically just an old mansion on Summit Ave. Not enormous or small, but it's really just a house. But, it does have a nice little bar setup in the basement. They used to have German breakfasts open to the public on Saturday mornings in the fall... Nice spread of meats, cheeses, pastries, etc... Covid ended that, though...

Black Forest Inn is close, too.

I've talked with Lee Stofer, sounds like he'll have a full display of the Lidl tubas.
I'll dine anywhere. I moved away over 50 yrs ago so don't know the current establishments, but I'm always ready for a tasty meal.
Tim
Ps. Grew up on University, just north of Lowry.

It's not walking distance, but the menu looks like tasty chow to accompany my 1st grade nostalgia!

I trust you've all received word that the venue has moved to University of Northwestern in Roseville. David Paulson recently sent out an updated schedule of events for April 15th (looks to be busy!) with information on the 16th to follow.
There are plenty of good places to eat right there on Snelling Ave. Pizza Luce is a favorite (their spaghetti and lasagna are terrific), and I'm always open to suggestions.
See you there!
Tim
PS. It's only 15 min from Northwestern to Crooners - live music and good food!

I’m in and Luce sounds good to me.

(So, Luce autocorrects to lice. Yikes)

I'm in Chicago for work through Saturday, so I would be Sunday-only... And I have to say, after being away for a week already, it might be a big ask to try to skip out on Sunday all day for tuba stuff. I'd better be real good the next few weeks!

I obviously was not paying attention. Yeah, unfortunately I don't get back until evening on Saturday. The one conference I go to all year... :eyes:
