Do you play in a wind ensemble, a wind orchestra, or a wind symphony?

Currently, I'm not playing in any of those, but I am playing in (a few of my old band directors referred to as) WIRE bands.

Playing bass trombone there, and having a very fine tuba section om my side, one C, one Eb and one F. Great fun.



And Big Band, DRAM - Danish Radio employee amateur Big Band. Nope, not the professional one, but we can loan all of the sheet music from them. Also bass bone.

Used to play Eb and Bb bass in Frederiksberg Brass Band, a 1. Division Danish amateur band, but the practice weekday did clash with DRAM.

Need to find a new band where I can play tuba.

I play in an Army Band. We will be traveling to Latvia (our "sister state") and performing along side their unit, The Latvian National Guard Orchestra. I guess in Latvia "band" conjures up images more like a (smaller ensemble) rock band or polka band.

I'm in a wind "symphony" that specializes in movie music, so there's a good mix of tuba covering string bass parts as well as distinctly brassy stuff. John Williams arrangements give you both in the same piece.

No, we just sub whatever makes sense.

Me and my tuba parter filled in for the bassoons last season and it worked.

Some of the sax and clarinet players did a recorder quartet that was cool too.

Nope. I just play in a lowly community BAND. But I also sing in a "Yelling Band" at church.

I play in a community band. Lots of retired music teachers and former pros and semi-pros. And a few people under 50.

A wide variety of music: orchestral transcriptions, concert band arrangements of movie score suites, Sousa, etc.

Three Bb tubas and me on Eb. Since it is band music, there are a lot of F, G, and Ab pedals, so if it isn't written with divisi, I write my own.

Three community bands and one British style brass band (two horn, two tuba.) Just left a 5th band after the concert because the conductor was upset that I did not do a full, formal audition to play the TRIANGLE and instead came in upon invitation from the section leader.

Two concert bands at the moment. Tuba section of two in the first and three in the second. All BBb tubas, Boosey&Hawkes, Yamaha 321 in one and the addition of an Alexander for the second. We have a grand time and our newest section member in the second band is a youngster at just 50 years of age. Ah, the joys of youth!

The only thing I've played in with any regularity since like 2014 is Tuba Christmas on my funky Bobhorn thing. I'd like to get back into the local brass band but my current ye old Eb tubas aren't quite up to snuff (one -plays- great but it's got that wide octave thing), I can't play bass trombone anymore (pretty sure they won't let me play my valved thing there ) and I hate playing euphonium parts. Why the hell do I have all these horns* and keep looking at new ones then? I have no idea.

*Two euphs, two tubas, one chainsaw, one valved chainsaw and I have a bass guitar in the garage which I am just now realizing probably froze during the winter. Didn't people used to pay a lot of money for that? I bet it plays great now!

I play in a Wind Symphony. 80 players. 2 BB-flats, 1 E-flat, and one guy with both--that's me. Our concert's next Monday.
