Neat! BBb with a short whole step fifth valve. Never quite understood that one.

Isn't it supposed to be a long half step, thus allowing a truly in tune below staff B and low E? (Extremely important notes in most literature)

I mean... Do you really need a long whole step on a BBb tuba just to play low B above the pedal? (I'm aware of alternate fingerings that can come in handy with a long whole step 5, like 235 for below staff B and low E.)

Low B is fingered 1 2 3 4 5, so I'm not sure how you're supposed to get it without a long whole step fifth valve.
