You could always make a trip down...

BTW, the weather is supposed to be excellent - clear, a north breeze, with a low temp of 60 degrees and a high of about 80 degrees (if forecasts can be believed :eyes: ). By contrast, most of the Oktoberfest/church picnic/festival season sports 90+ and 100+ degree temps (with oppressive, sauna-like humidity). From May 1 to Oct 1, you would NOT be jealous. Watching a fat man in leather pants wrestle a tuba in a steambath could certainly be entertaining, but being the fat man in leather pants wrestling a tuba in a steambath is no duty of which to be jealous. But I love playing, I'm a wh0re for the money, and there is always plenty of refreshment either way. Just sayin... :tuba:

Would "envious" be a more accurate word? To me, the word "jealous" sort of implies some degree of mental agitation. That does not sound descriptive of you.

We had a really good crowd at both. At Round Top, they serve smoked pork chops (these are straight from heaven's bbq pit), homemade sausage, sauerkraut (with onions and bacon, of course), potatoes, and an excellent potato soup later in the evening. Hefeweizen, Oktoberfest, and Helles on tap plus bottles, too (Bud/Miller/Coors barely makes an appearance). Weather was excellent, with temperatures starting off at 55 degrees, peaking at 70.

Nice weather continued on Sunday. I got a chance to really test the Symphonie to make sure it will do the job (Auf Geht's is a bit of a show band, so I can let my hair down a little bit more - they make use of alphorns, saws, xylophone, cow bells, yodeling, etc. throughout the show). I recorded a few tunes, and I was not disappointed. It's definitely the F tuba sound I hear in my head, except the one in my head doesn't chip notes or forget what key it's in. Not that I ever do that, of course.

And I brought plenty of bier money in case any any of the TFFJ showed up.

I don't wear a watch these days, but I agree that it's always Oktoberfest time!

Your gigs sound terrific. Pretty much a straight line south from where I live, assuming the border is open. I would consider this an "essential service" trip! :tuba:

I wish I had the energy, right now, to make the road trips that you’ve been making.
I’d love to check out your performances. My several-decades accordion buddy is slowly dying of a terminal disease.

And we use two. Calling/answering from a distance and harmony stuff.

And the hand saw played with a violin bow affectionately named... Stanley.

Come on down. No matter what happens, we have a good time. We'd be glad to have you as our guest.

Definitely essential! Just like those essential nutrients and trace minerals found in good German bier.

Our accommodations are quite modest, but you are always welcome. No invitation necessary.

Sorry to hear about your friend. There's too much of that garbage going around.

yeah...except for reading out of little books (with jazz musicians- accepting polka band gigs), I believe my most fun polka band gigs are in my past.
