Very cool to see the upright bell in such fine condition! Good price too. I'm always surprised how easily these tubas play when they are in good shape. And since Matt has been over it, this will play very very well

I wonder if this is actually a 1241 body with the first slide "flipped." 2341s I thought had no curlicue in the 3rd valve tubing, as seen here (NOT the tuba for sale):

The 1241/2341 evolution has a lot of twists and turns. I don't really think there is a clear point where a 1241 became an "old style" 2341. The late 70's and 80's "King" had probably more worries than what to call this tuba I guess. 2341 stuck maybe about the UMI time in King's history. Combine that corporate movement with all the brass technicians straightening out curly-Qs and moving first valve tuning slides to the top on the older horns really makes it so that you can't really tell what the horn is by looking at it.

I would personally agree with you that having a curly Q but 1st valve branch reconfigured is probably a 1241 that has had work done on it. That's a decent price for that horn!
