Would love to pick this up if I was closer. Unfortunately, I am on the other side of the country. Fantastic looking horn!

Cheers,
Jared

Fit was a little on the big side but fits snug enough.

Re: Gig Bag Fitment

Ended up returning this one to Amazon even though I got a hell of a deal on it. I ordered the next size up which fits up to a 22in bell but has an accommodating depth of 11in, which is just over the measurement of my tuba. Bell will be a bit small in there considering it is only 16.5in and the width...

Gig Bag Fitment

Good afternoon and happy weekend! I got a Protec C240 in the mail yesterday. Bell fitment and length seem to have a decent fit but the bridge/valve key section fits a bit tight to where I need to pull both halves of the case together and zip. It does zip fairly easy with a little bit of work. The on...

Re: R&M Kaisertuba is Finally Home!

Had my first practice with the orchestra. It went very well, I played better with the group than any of my previous practices so far. I am pretty rusty still with sight reading so I got some work to do with that. Overall, I am extremely happy and excited to be back playing with a group again! Cheers...

Re: R&M Kaisertuba is Finally Home!

This tuba begs me to do some digging. The only other Reichel I've seen that has a good picture is on the Brass and Pipes blog. https://brassandpipes.files.wordpress.com/2017/12/img_5870.jpg This kaiser is different in just about every way (I mean, beyond being a kaiser contrabass instead of a daint...

Re: Rotary Valve Upkeep

(others - perhaps not you, as you might be seeing this advice for the first time - are tired of reading my posts on this sort of thing...) On the pivot ends (top and bottom - "bearings") use the THICKEST oil that does NOT slow down the rotors (possibly up to regular 30W that's out in your...

I think so. I plan on practicing every day. I have orchestra practice every Thursday evening as well. Looking forward to seeing what they are playing.

Re: R&M Kaisertuba is Finally Home!

Got a good couple hours of practice in today. First impressions; it seems forgiving when it comes to tone but it does take a lot of air to make solid notes. I very much enjoyed practice today and how well it plays! I am still working out what mouthpiece are going to work well for me. Between the Olk...

WTB Helle 120, Olka CB1, or Similar in Euro Shank

Just found out my tuba has a euro shank so my standard mouthpieces won't work. I'm looking to either trade my mouthpieces or outright purchase similar style mouthpieces in euro shank. I have a very clean Bach Megatone 22 and an Olka CB1-A.

Than you in advance for any offers!

Cheers,
Jared

Re: R&M Kaisertuba is Finally Home!

I have to say, she cleaned up very well!! Polished, all slide grease cleaned off and replaced, valves and joints all lubed. Now I need to get myself to play as decent as she looks!

Guessing the Olka is closer, but also thinking you'll probably need a Euro shank mouthpiece.
Oh man, you gave me a scare lol. I ran down to check if my mouthpieces fit and thankfully they do so the lead pipe size appears to be standard and not euro.

Re: R&M Kaisertuba is Finally Home!

A few things in my experience: * Don't try to muscle it like a big York-style 6/4 tuba. It won't go well. * For me, big bowl-shaped mouthpieces work better * It's going to take time to work out smoothness between notes, slurring, flexibility * Don't try to muscle it. The bell is tall and way above ...
