Re: Tuba Tuesday: King, 1286 Monster, BB flat tuba, 4 rotary, c.1935
The Denver one is not the one the OP shows as being in the collection. The collection example , according to serial number, and previously seen pics is the one Don had after Jake sold it to him after i got it and sold it to Jake. I had a 3v (ser # 120...) before I got 180119 and after a very good ...

That makes two Aussie female singers to die in the past few days; Judith Durham of the Seekers being the other. Both were great singers who didn't need fakery to produce the goods.

Re: Did anyone else get tuba-related gifts?
Yes; well, sort of............ For far too long I have been working up to assembling the Mirafone 186CC I bought in "Ikea like kit" form. With many parts missing - maybe in a box at Boeing - Seattle - there were challenges and "opportunities" in how I would do it. It is a 4v and the entire 4th ...

Re: How to remove lacquer and shine raw brass
Back when they coerced us into being in JR ROTC - as sort of a prelude for sending a bunch of us off to Vietnam, we had to shine up our brass on our uniforms with Brasso. It did remove the tarnish and getting all the Brasso off and buffing the brass with flannel or a T-shirt did result in shiny ...

After watching the youtube clip above I thought ; why not design a beer drinking experiment to be carried out on the ISS?I'm sure there would be plenty of volunteer participants. Then comes the BIG question. When will auditions for the Space Force Band be held. Surely such a group must be formed as ...

Re: An inexpensive cutting machine picture added
I tend to wonder if just a regular miter saw would work. Brass is so soft, that I even wonder if it would dull a blade design to cut wood...(??) I have tried that approach and NEVER liked the result. A coarse blade sets up a lot of vibration which makes it hard to secure the work piece for a clean ...

Re: Your Horn Haulers!?
"Unless you have to hit the brakes really hard..yikes." That did happen a few times but with the tuba being securely strapped down it did not move. A head on wouldn't have done any damage unless the bolts holding the whole thing down to the tray sheared (unlikely) and even rolling it would have ...

Re: Your Horn Haulers!?
I've been meaning to post this for ages: now that I've got imgur working, here goes. http://i.imgur.com/1S5WSU2.jpg I needed a safe, secure way to get my 1241 to and from rehearsals etc. so got a heap of 3/4in marine ply 3"x1 1/2" pine hinges glue, silicon sealer and about 300 screws and came up ...
