Re: Take Your Tomorrow

For anyone seeking to increase their daily/monthly intake of bass sax content while waiting for Bloke to get his running, there are several compilations of Adrian Rollini out there. But for high density doses of bass sax, check out the Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band recordings, such as Apostles of Sax ...

Re: 10J out there?

Thanks for the suggestions! I am checking in on the one in Albany. Just for community information, the one on eBay is a frankenhorn, given that it has a detachable bell, and non-original bell stack taper. I previously had another horn from that seller go through my hands (many years ago) that was ...

10J out there?

Anyone have a Conn 10J in good cosmetic and mechanical condition, that they would like to sell?

I played one for a few months many (many) years ago, and have fond memories of playing it, and would like to revisit that.

I’m in Columbus OH.

Thanks!

Re: Yamaha 661 CC tuba for Sale

The 661 sold a few weeks, but I have been tardy in posting, due to my move. Thanks for the interest!

The 2J is still available, and is now in Columbus, OH.

Re: Yamaha 661 CC tuba for Sale

A few inquiries, but it's still here. If it does not sell first, the horn will relocate to Columbus OH in early June.

Gone -- H N White 3v Eb helicon body and Tuba Stand

From a quick look, the body is missing the the upper leadpipe and neck; and valve buttons. All three valves appear to be present, though the 3rd stem is broken off. It's really tarnished and dusty, but I post it here just in case someone wants a project. Also available is a fairly heavy tuba stand ...

Re: Conn 2J For Sale (Corrected)

Thanks for noting the error Pakins51, and the listing has been corrected. It is a 2J.

Will referred to the tuba as a 3J from the time he first got it, maybe 15 years ago. That was so ingrained, that I didn't think to question that designation at this point.

Miraphone 1281 Petruschka for Sale SOLD

This horn, I am selling for myself. The horn was bought new in February 2020, immediately before the Covid shutdown, for use in a group I was playing with--great timing, huh? So it does not have a lot of mileage on it. These horns generally play well, though I do prefer this instrument over the ...

Conn 2J For Sale (Corrected)

This is the second of two tubas I am selling for the family of a good friend who recently passed. The 2J is pretty well known and desired as a compact horn that is easy to play. This one is in good condition, though some dents in the bottom bow have been removed at some point (detectable more ...

Yamaha 661 CC tuba for Sale

This is one of two tubas owned by a close friend who recently passed, and that I am selling for his family. The 661 is now somewhat rare, but was highly thought of when they came out in 1984 (to '93). The are, to me, a Yamaha piggy, with an .812 bore and 16.5 inch bell. This one was purchased from a ...

My bad! I missed the "p" after "PT6" in the original post; and was commenting on the rotary version (obviously). Dooh!!

Re: WTB: B&S 5th slide extension

The fifth valve slide assembly on the PT6/MRP is a .750 bore. Since it is the top valve in the rotor stack, it would be odd if it were otherwise. The larger bore valve is the 4th valve. The one you have, York-aholic, however, appears to be a 5th valve assembly for either a different generation, or ...

Re: WTB: B&S 5th slide extension

Andy Smith had a few of these for sale several months ago, possibly on this forum. That is where I would start. Just be aware they are not necessarily plug and play, as the slide tube spacing on the main portions of the 5th valve slides are not consistent to a tolerance of good slide function, and ...

Re: Rare Tuba Mouthpieces

FWIW—I wouldn’t consider the Conn Geibs to be terribly rare, as I have seen at least 35-40 over the years; and can still account for the location of 12, not counting the ones mentioned in this thread. The rare Geib mouthpiece from my experience is the one he sold himself which was meant to be played ...

Re: mid-1970's "Mira-hate" propaganda

Finally responding to Rick's post as to Bill Rose's pre-Mirafone equipment... While in NYC (before Houston), he had looked for a CC tuba (which was not that easy to find in the late 40's), and finally found a Sanders in the basement of a hair salon (though all strings on the valves were broken, and ...
