Re: Conn tubas: discussion thread
After messing with the circuit lengths on a 28K E-flat sousaphone, I'm pretty sure that that was about the best E-flat sousaphone I've ever played, but not until I did what I did to the circuits. This 28k is my main horn. Thankyou Bloke. My Conn tubas in order of acquisition or issue 36k HS 3 ...

Re: Conn tubas: discussion thread
Conn Tubas, for me, are champions of overhead to return positive$. I like the ability to lay down bass and flip to leads (so fun & responsive) amplified or acoustic. Conn instruments are tough sturdy and are visually appealing. I like the way they play and respond. Of course they are challenging to ...

Re: NOLA CL: Yamaha 321 Eb
I played this horn today, it's An OK tuba.
I already have horns that cover what this one does.
The pictures do no justice for the horn or the case
4 valves and a case
bang for the buck ++++
I have in my stable a horn purchased from this seller
PM me if you'd like details

To come up with something that actually will scrub it really well - yet with virtually no risk of it getting stuck - is a pretty tall order. Use Zip ties and strip of plastic dish scrubber [like scotch-brite but safe for dishes] centered to get a push pull effect. :thumbsup ...

@UncleBeer does the computer software you use to analyze instruments, give any indication of an ideal place for the valve section? Thanks for the Schilke "centering & pitch".

The reference comes from the podcast "History of the Tuba", multiple early names, on scores for cimbasso.

MTS Pre or Post Valve Section???
Why has the pre valve section, main tuning slide [MTS] gone out of style or usage?
Hirsbrunner[?] and Yamaha student horns were the last I recall.
Is it too cylindrical too early in the cone? Is it cheaper to build post?
What are the playability or tonal issues? Possible tradeoffs?

Re: Oktoberfest Tunes/B&S Symphonie
My Lasko blower is on of the most valuable pieces of musical gear i own.
Great for DB and electric bass, keeps the callouses DRY, Tubawork, blower keeps me dry
Oktoberfest in Nashville ranges from freezing, cold, to hot sweat saturated.
All in a days fun,
Enjoy

HA ha, in Buffalo no one wants to mess with the case because they're afraid of taking blame for misplacing the tuba that goes in it! HA

Re: tuba chair (SIMPLE design)
I really dislike those chairs without a level platform. They wanna throw your back into the into the back of the chair. When you sit on the front feels like you're gonna roll into the back of the chair. Another benefit Duh a near level seat. Piano benches are OK except for appearance and if portable ...

My main axe is '43 Conn 28K. I can tell immediately when I loose the pop and clarity in the fourth valve range, I have water in the 4th loop, or MTS, or loop after the MTS, or the bottom of the bell..It doesn't take much, a tablespoon. It can be a real upper body workout if you're working in cold ...

Re: HEY TRUMPET PLAYERS: Your expensive-@$$ boutique quad cases are $h!tty !!!
My tuba quad case was made in Japan.
2200 CC five speed, Front wheel drive, four doors and a lift back.
I can probably get six in there if I needed so many

Perfect thanks Joe. I remember the conference concert, and my mild irritation at the program being transcription heavy.
