Re: Yamaha 668YLS Full Double Horn

You actually had me thinking for a few seconds: "I didn't realize Yamaha ever made a double tuba." :red:

Re: wake for a tuba

With these blunt comments, no one need assume that I'm not aware that there is some existence which is larger than us and all knowing. I just don't feel that I'm qualified to put a brand name on it. And you've motivated me to make similar arrangements to yours following my demise. Unless I ...

Re: nerd survey

Funny, I still had all those patches in a box in storage until just a few months ago (33 years after high school graduation), when I opened that box for the first time in many years, had a moment of nostalgia, and then threw them all away.

Re: Connecticut CL: pristine Conn 21J

I don't see any bits in the photos. Maybe that's why it didn't get played much. Aren't those a "must have" for those Conns, for intonation? And do Conn sousaphone bits work interchangeably?

Re: I nearly bought myself a new tuba...

A non-Californian, I find many of their state policies to be . . . misguided. But last week, for the first time in my life, I had the opportunity to drive from Napa to San Francisco. Now that was some beautiful scenery!!

Re: College Audition Help

This has already been said, but I'm going to say it in a different way: Those listening to auditions want to hear what you CAN play, well, and make good music with. Nobody wants to listen to something anyone can ALMOST play, even if pretty darn close. And none of us on this thread can tell you which ...

Schiller Elite CC, 4 piston, 1 rotary - $1,950

https://classifieds.ksl.com/listing/68816510 Description and photos are at the link above. As I said in the listing, I wanted to get back into playing, but this horn is just too large for me - I need something smaller. At this point I'm looking for a local sale (Salt Lake City). If it doesn't sell ...

Re: Rudy Meinl “Weltklang” F tuba- FB

What Rick said. If it’s the horn I formerly owned, it seemed to have some similarities to a B & S Symphonie. But my chops weren’t very good when I owned it (was just playing for fun) so I can’t give any more useful information.

Re: Rudy Meinl “Weltklang” F tuba- FB

I believe I may have formerly owned that tuba. If so, I think it was a Weltklang that Rudy Meinl engraved his name on after doing some work on it. Most likely adding the fifth valve, that probably wouldn’t have been original to a Weltklang. My understanding is that isn’t uncommon for Rudy (to eng ...

:teeth:
It's the propane accessories that get you in the long run.
(But if you wanted to, say, manufacture asphalt or smelt copper on the property, that's probably not a good idea with propane . . .)

Re: high school...

remote That would probably be because it was a rather small school in a rather small town, like the majority of Mississippi schools. In fact, it was so small that the residents couldn’t pop out new children often enough to justify having their own campus. Now they all go to the much larger Winona H ...

Re: more on air

For personal religio-philosophical reasons, I just don’t embrace/recite pledges to things that are controlled by men (particularly when goals/objectives can change drastically every 2 to 4 years). I wouldn’t mind doing this for one person - who might find it amusing, but there are quite a few peo ...
