They dropped the price on both their 187's. Maybe they read this thread?

Re: Looking for info on my Meinl
So, bloke, you’re saying that this horn was marketed and distributed in the US by Getzen, without saying “a division of Getzen”, by virtue of it being called Meinl-Weston rather than Melton? I wonder when they started to be engraved “a division of Getzen”. Did the business relationship change from d ...

Re: Looking for info on my Meinl
So likely 1950s vintage? I noticed some of my rotary valve corks are well worn. Would any cork/rubber stop work or is there a measurement I need to take to get the right size and/or type? Nope 1965 and above vintage. I had one for a minute and sold it to a friend in Houston who plays alongside Doc ...

Re: Miraphone 187
The one I bought privately that was seen on all platforms was 99% mint (until it was shipped). He started at 7k for over a month, then came down to 6k for another month then I offered him closer to the $5k range after roughly 75 days on the market. Regardless of worth, the market is still stuck ...

Re: Miraphone 187
Neither has sold yet AND you don't know the profit margins on them. Agreed. One looks to be well used and a trade or consignment horn while the other is a demonstrator horn. Those would have vastly different cost of acquisition for Dillon. The newer demo one also has better lacquer and is simply ...

I live very close by...this might be someone who played at Disneyland's horn back in the day if it's this nice. If anyone buys this I'd be more than happy to acquire it and hold it until picked up.

Re: Miraphone 187
Dillon's offering a horn with cosmetic issues for $5K that lists for almost $10K new. If I were in the market for a 187, this would seem to me like a good deal. As always, your mileage may vary. IMO apples and oranges possibly right? NEW 186's are also MSRP at $10k but ones (still in great ...

Re: Miraphone 187
It’s this. I’m sure Dillon has plenty of backlog in the repair shop. Why spend time fixing it when someone might buy it as-is? Because they are a reputable shop and can do better than this. What’s not being disclosed here? I guess you would just have to work in a retail business or the like to under ...

The horn plays fine with the dent, and Matt know it's a wash to make it pretty and pay for it or sell as is... And as is is faster. It’s this. I bet it still sits awhile. That dent would take a professional like Matt no time at all to at least smooth out (maybe not make perfect but just around the guard)?

Re: Miraphone 187
The bottom bow can also be repaired in house quite competently, I’d reckon, if one is willing to pay for the shop time. That should have been done before taking photos and advertising it for sale. It's a $6k horn with no dents easily. Not the first time they've mislabeled a horn or a description w ...

It's got some big bow dents and has had some major bell repairs in the past. But not bad price if you are looking for one and don't care much about condition.

Pardon the rant, Joe: It's like how a large part of the US population now arbitrarily decides, without medical diagnosis, they have a gluten allergy and want everything gluten-free. Sorry, Charlie... but most people's ""gluten intolerance" is just a need to be trendy, hip, in the know, popular ...

Re: eBay and zeros
If anything, the prices of brass/tuba related stuff that's junk or even slightly used has DECREASED in price if anything due to low demand. These people are out of their (can I say this, cotton pickin' minds). Maybe they are just opportunists who don't understand inflation and think the average Joe ...
