Jack Richardson's little Sander tuba all polished up!
Hi all - with a snow day today, I decided to polish up Jack Richardson's little Sander tuba that was recently given to me by his great nephew. It looks fantastic for being roughly 100 years old!
Played an F. E. Olds 4-valve BBb in high school (late '70s)
Led the USC Trojan Marching Band tuba section (early '80s)
Now playing an F. Schmidt (=VMI) 3301 and goofing around
on a 1925 Pan American Sousaphone and an 1899 Conn tuba!

It came out pretty good! All the effort was worth it.

The Met has a nice display of historical instruments as well.BRS wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 5:59 amThat’s quite a responsibility! I would think Library of Congress or Smithsonian worthy items. I’m sure they will be welcomed.“In his blog, Dave Detwiler” wrote:When I was finally able to get together with Jack's great nephew, sharing with him everything I had been learning about Jack, he brought both the horn and the mouthpiece with him and graciously gave them to me, both for research-purposes and to eventually find a proper home for these historic items.
