Besson upright valve compensated CCs
I know that Besson made a few 3+1 compensated CCs. I believe there was mention of one in Bevan's "The Tuba Family". I've seen one sell through Dillon music quite a number of years ago. One also was sold by Baltimore brass in the somewhat recent past. It came out of the stable of the famous...

Re: Parker Mouthpieces
Parker lists some Sellmansberger shanks as optional for some of his cups. You can use the Parker website to figure out what Sellmansberger shanks are compatible with what Parker cups. Then realize that the Sellmansberger cups would be compatible with the same Parker shanks in that list. For example,...

Re: High-end 3/4 Tuba?
Miraphone 184 would be a my first choice. It's quite small and quite great. Miraphone 184, 185, or even a 186. Even a 16.5 inch bell Miraphone 186 is tightly wrapped and not physically huge. Some folks might recommend a 3/4 Rudolf Meinl CC, but even that's close to as big as a 186. The 3/4 Rudolf Me...

Re: High Bridge Brass
This is great! Really great.
Though I would like to see a British 3+1 E flat tuba to go with the otherwise British instrumentation.

Re: Make the case for compensation
Make the case for compensation Because compensated valves are often attached to really good instruments. If you find an instrument stuffy in the extreme low register, you might consider using a mouthpiece with a slightly larger throat to open it up. I assume that this is why the 24AW is popular in ...

Re: Advice on an "Old Man" CC Tuba
I love the miraphone 184. Gronitz tubas are very light. A PCM CC tuba might work if you can find one and like it. I would definitely check out the mac brass 5v, bigger belled version of the Yamaha 621. I have an older friend who has a 621 BB-flat and a Jupiter 4/4 BB-flat. He plays the 621 day to da...

I need somebody of "tuba importance" to justify at least 7 so I can delete my post and show it to my wife later. :)

Violin tuning
So cjk junior just got a new violin.
