Re: St Paul TubaChristmas -- 12/3 at 4pm

Bring the lovely one and play the 1st part. The U of M marching kids need someone to balance them. I moved to Duluth and will be doing Tuba Christmas there this year (same date). Quite a low brass scene here, St. Scholastica has an low brass group that meets every Sunday and the community band and ...

Cerventy 683 rotary valve

I'm looking for a 683 rotary valve. At some point in the past, it looks like my horn was dropped and the second valve stem was bent then retapped. It sticks a bit, which is irritating. I believe it has the same valveset as a 681 and 686 (common). I'm looking for a replacement valve, anyone holding ...

Re: tablets for gigs

I've done enough PowerPoint Presentations where the tech went belly up so that I always brought a paper copy. I suspect that I'd have paper music sitting under my chair if I used a tablet because of paranoia.

So why would I bring a tablet again? : )

Only a mile away from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Scooterville and the Electric Fetus. Where are we going to eat? I suggest Merlin's Rest (British Style Pub on Lake St).

Nice, I attended part of the first one at Bethel. At the Norway House because there is not enough room at Germanic-American Institute? Looking forward to it.

Re: storage stands

I’m a hypocrite - regarding this post, because I have/use them here (mostly, Mrs. bloke’s idea - combined with me having picked up several of them for virtually no cost, over the years), …but do people really believe that using storage stands (at home) is better for their instruments than simply set ...

Re: Valves Position

Hi All, I'm trying to move over from euphonium playing to tuba. My friend gave me his Conn BBb to try. The front valves are at an angle that is really uncomfortable. I'm looking for top action valves like on my euphonium. Is there a list of tubas that has that configuration in a Bb? I figure that ...

Re: Another Awesome SuperFine Bag [updated]

Were I to buy a brand new bag, I would only buy this brand, but I would also only buy black - as much as I really like some of the colors, because every once in a while I have to leave something in one of my cars for a little while, and - with my windows being somewhat tinted - black is less likely ...

Re: Glenn Cronkhite cases sold on Ebay?

Yep, they are in Minneapolis, and actually right near where the riots were the worst. Also, across the street from my local repair person. Yes, you can definitely order and pick up local. I've asked them that before and they were totally open to the idea. You will have to pay local sales tax though ...

Glenn Cronkhite cases sold on Ebay?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/224325086866?h ... Swz6RgCwK~

It caught my eye because I missed a deal on a used one locally for my 683 Cerveny (an odd size). Not custom made for your horn, but the size and color options are cool. Plus there is free shipping.

Mine are in stands in room at the back door. They usually get a little playing when I let the dog out. Much shorter "rehersals" now that it's winter in Minnesota.

Tempted, but I really like the 683 that you sold me. This one has minibal links on it, which you don't see often on a Cerveny. The one with the good return policy or where the price was so low that I could flip it if needed.
